Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially the hottest name on the trade block. With the Milwaukee Bucks eliminated from the 2026 postseason, speculation is at a fever pitch. Teams are lining up, promises are being weighed, and Antetokounmpo’s next destination could reshape the league.
The February 5 trade deadline saw the Bucks stand pat, but as of March 29, 2026, they’re reportedly “fully engaging” with suitors. Insiders suggest a handful of franchises are leading the charge, ready to swing blockbuster deals this offseason.
Per Bleacher Report, four teams stand out as the most serious contenders:
“So there’s 16 teams, they think they’re in it, two weeks later, there’s eight teams that are out. That’s where I think the Houstons, the Orlandos are gonna merge. The Knicks, Cleveland, that’s the group I’m looking at.”
The Knicks, Cavs, Rockets, and Magic are reportedly among the teams monitoring a potential trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per @kirkgoldsberry

The Knicks, Cavaliers, Rockets, and Magic are all monitoring the situation closely, while the Warriors, Heat, and Timberwolves also remain heavily involved. Golden State’s vision of pairing the 31-year-old with Stephen Curry still looms, Miami remains a preferred destination, and Minnesota hopes to form a duo with Anthony Edwards.
Bucks co-owner Wes Edens has reportedly said that Antetokounmpo will either sign a new deal by October 1, 2026, or he’ll move this summer.
The asking price is steep. Sources say the Bucks want a “blue-chip young talent” plus a haul of draft picks, essentially, top prospects and future assets. Injuries have further complicated matters. Giannis Antetokounmpo missed much of the latter half of 2025-26 with calf and groin strains, making his availability limited and adding another layer of urgency for the Bucks to resolve his future.
Offseason chatter, though, suggests every contender will need to bring maximum draft assets and young talent to land “The Greek Freak.”
