Nets' Spencer Dinwiddie opts out of restart following another positive test for coronavirus

Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie announced on Twitter that he will not be joining the team in Orlando after once again testing positive for COVID-19.

"After another positive test yesterday and considering the symptoms, @BrooklynNets, team doctors and I have decided that it would be in the best interest for me and the team that I do not play in Orlando. I will be supporting the guys every step of the way! #AudienceOfOne"

This announcement is not a surprise but deals another blow to the Nets' chances of making much of an impact in Orlando as their roster has been decimated by injuries and the coronavirus.

Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler and Nic Claxton will all be sitting out for the Nets. General manager Sean Marks has said the team has no intention of not participating in Orlando.

"We have a job to do," Marks said. "We have to bring a team to Orlando. We will bring a team to Orlando. We will go down there, and we will compete. That's our jobs here."

Dinwiddie is the second player to announce on Tuesday he will not be playing in the NBA's season restart. Bradley Beal confirmed he will not be participating with the Washington Wizards due to injury.

"This was a difficult decision and one that I did not take lightly as the leader of this team," said Beal. "I wanted to help my teammates compete for a playoff spot in Orlando, but also understand that this will be best for all of us in the long term. I appreciate the support of my teammates, the fans and the entire organization and look forward to returning next season to continue the progress we have made."
