Pistons void trade with Nuggets due to Bol Bol failed physical

As it turns out, the Detroit Pistons won't be acquiring big man Bol Bol from the Denver Nuggets.

News of a Nuggets-Pistons trade involving the Sudanese 2019 draft selection came out on Monday and appeared to be all but complete. In the deal, Detroit would've landed Bol, while Denver was to pick up shooting guard Rodney McGruder and a 2022 second-round pick via the Brooklyn Nets.

The trade was assumed to be complete, as even the Nuggets official Twitter page said goodbye to the forward.

Per James Edwards III of The Athletic, regarding the rescinded deal, Pistons head coach Dwane Casey said Thursday: "I've been around it before. It happens. Things happen where information comes up and things can be changed."

Bol — the son of the late former NBA player Manute Bol — will be a restricted free agent this summer and has averaged 2.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 5.8 minutes per game in 14 contests this season. McGruder has appeared in 17 games off the bench during his sixth NBA season (second in Detroit) and has posted 2.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 9.5 minutes per game thus far.
