Report: LiAngelo Ball expected to sign with Hornets, be on summer league roster

The Charlotte Hornets are signing LaMelo Ball's brother.

According to Sports Illustrated's Roderick Boone, the Hornets are expected to sign LiAngelo Ball, who will be on the team's summer league roster. The team is preparing to assemble its roster and depart for the summer league in Las Vegas from August 8-17, Boone adds.

Ball has already been around the team in recent weeks, working out with Devonte' Graham. His signing would pair him with LaMelo for the first time since they played together in Lithuania in 2017-18.

Ball went undrafted in 2018 and ended up signing with the Oklahoma City Blue of the G League right before the league shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He never played a game for the Blue and signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Detroit in early December before being waived.

In addition to Ball, Vernon Carey Jr., Nick Richards and the team's first-round pick on Thursday are expected to compete for the Hornets during summer league, according to Boone.
