Steph Curry Announces Health Status for Spurs Game

After missing the last three games due to illness, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry finally returned to action on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for the Warriors, not even Curry’s return was enough to help them avoid victory against the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Curry played just 20 minutes in his return as Golden State suffered a 126-102 blowout loss to the Thunder in a road game at Paycom Center. The former back-to-back NBA MVP registered 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting, to go along with one rebound, a steal and one triple.

Curry battled rust in his first game back. He was limited to just 20 minutes even though head coach Steve Kerr said before the game that the 11-time All-Star would not have a minutes restriction in his return.

It was the lopsided nature of the contest that led to Curry’s limited run. None of the Warriors’ starters played more than 24 minutes in the blowout loss.

Curry spoke to reporters after the game, and he provided a health update upon his return to action.

"It was alright," Curry said of his health on his return. "Anytime you have a cold — you can probably still hear it [in my voice] — but every time you have a cold-type vibe and dealing with that, sitting in bed for two days, it takes a little bit to get back.

“But I felt great physically. Just trying to get your wind back was the biggest deal. But I'm happy with where I am now, considering the week I've had."

The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday in the second night of a back-to-back set. They face Victor Wembanyama and the 8-2 San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center. When asked if he would be able to suit up for a second time in two nights, Curry had an optimistic response.

“I’m trying to, yes,” he said.

As of writing, the Warriors have not submitted their injury report for the Spurs game. However, based on his update here, it appears that Curry will be available to play on Wednesday as Golden State looks to bust out of its losing slump on the road.

The Spurs-Warriors game tips off at 9:00 p.m. ET.
