Suns reportedly closing in on a five-year, $158 million deal with Devin Booker

Now that the Phoenix Suns added big man Deandre Ayton with the first pick in this year’s NBA Draft, the team has a duo to feature moving forward. Of course, that includes 21-year-old shooting guard Devin Booker.

It now looks like the two will be suiting up together in the desert for a while. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Suns and Booker are closing in on a five-year max contract that will pay the former No. 13 overall pick $158 million.

Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns are progressing toward finalizing a 5-year, $158M maximum contract extension as soon as the weekend, league sources tell ESPN. Suns presented the offer to Booker in Los Angeles today.

This really shouldn’t be considered too much of a surprise. No player has ever turned down a max contract while still under his rookie deal. Booker will be no different.

Dealing with injuries throughout the 2017-18 campaign, Booker averaged 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 54 games while shooting at a 38 percent mark from distance. He’s considered one of the best young players in the game and will now look to help the Suns overcome irrelevance moving forward.
