The Minnesota Timberwolves have been on a hot streak recently, winning five of their last six games behind the stellar play of shooting guard Anthony Edwards. Now in his sixth NBA season, the 24-year-old has continued to establish himself as one of the faces of the league.
Edwards has scored efficiently from all three levels, combining his threat as an elite shooter with his ability to attack the basket, often creating opportunities for teammates and elevating the Timberwolves’ offense into one of the best in the NBA.
Through his first 20 appearances of the season, Edwards has posted 28.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.0% from the field and 41.6% from beyond the arc on 8.1 attempts per night. It is an incredibly efficient line given his usage.
As Edwards continues to cement his place on the court, he has made moves off the court as well. He has long been one of the most recognizable personalities in the NBA, known for his expressive nature and competitiveness.
As a result, he announced on Tuesday that he would be getting his own show on Amazon Prime, with the first episode of Season 1 already out.
“Ping Pong? Challenge accepted. Serious Business With Anthony Edwards is streaming now on Prime Video,” the joint post read on Instagram.
According to the description on Prime Video, the show explains, “Anthony Edwards, the superstar guard for the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, is all business. On the court or off, he’s ready to challenge whoever, whenever. Perhaps he’s crazy or maybe he’s a genius, but Edwards believes he can challenge the world’s most elite athletes and biggest celebrities in any competition imaginable — and believes he can win. For him, competition is Serious Business.”
Edwards’ competitive nature on the court is the same drive he shows off of it, taking on other professional athletes.
Even with his growing presence away from basketball, his focus remains on leading the Timberwolves to the NBA Finals and finally getting past the hump of the Western Conference Finals, where they have lost two straight years.
Edwards has already been highly successful individually in the league, earning three All-Star selections, two All-NBA honors and finishing in the top ten of MVP voting in back-to-back seasons.
His growth has turned the Timberwolves into a team built around his competitive edge, and he continues to lead a franchise determined to break through on the biggest stage.
