Warriors' Steve Kerr Critical of Referees After Draymond Green Fouls Out of Game 3

The Golden State Warriors produced a valiant effort in Game 3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves absent superstar point guard Stephen Curry, but ultimately came up just a little bit short.

Golden State led into the middle of the fourth quarter. However, part of the team's inability to close out the critical contest was the absence of Draymond Green.

A finalist for the NBA's 2024-25 Defensive Player of the Year award, Green picked up his sixth foul midway through the final stanza, leaving the Warriors even more shorthanded than they already were.

Head coach Steve Kerr spoke with media members following the contest, which ended in a 102-97 win for Minnesota, and spoke honestly about a couple of foul calls against Green that he believes the officials made incorrectly.

Kerr first spoke about Green's fourth foul of the night, on which the referees made a blocking call rather than whistling Timberwolves forward Julius Randle for a charge.

"We felt pretty strongly that on the block," Kerr said of a play that the Warriors challenged, though ultimately failed to overturn. "It looked like Randle went through his chest. We didn't get the call. That's part of the game."

Kerr went on to say that the foul calls weren't why Golden State lost the game, blaming some key offensive rebounds and sequences for Minnesota that sealed the win for the Timberwolves.

However, he was also critical of the final foul on Green in the fourth quarter, which sent him to the bench for the last several minutes of the contest.

"The sixth [foul] is tough," Kerr said of Green's rim challenge with a little less than five minutes to play. "That didn't feel great looking at the replay, but it is what it is."

Golden State will host Minnesota in Game 4 on Monday night at Chase Center. If the Warriors can get a win, they will theoretically allow Curry enough time to recover from the hamstring strain he suffered in the first half of Game 1 and return to the lineup for Game 6 in San Francisco on May 18.
