Watch: Knicks’ Svi Mykhailiuk logs 35 pts, franchise-record 7 steals in G League win
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

New York Knicks‘ seldom-used forward Svi Mykhailiuk made a splash in his first G League assignment this season to lead Westchester’s 131-111 rout of the Capital City Go-Go Monday night at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT.

The Ukrainian sniper flirted with a rare triple-double, collecting a game-high 35 points, 11 rebounds and a franchise-record seven steals in 37 minutes.

Jericho Sims and Miles McBride also dished out monster numbers as Westchester climbed to the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference with their fifth win in 12 games in the ongoing G League Showcase Cup.

Sims produced 19 points and 16 rebounds in only 28 minutes, while McBride quarterbacked the Knicks flawlessly with 12 assists against zero turnovers and scored 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting, including 4 of 6 from deep.

Westchester opened a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Knicks immediately recalled the three players after the game.

Mykhailiuk, a mainstay of the Ukrainian national team, is currently buried under the Knicks’ loaded wing rotation. He’s only played a total of 23 garbage minutes for the Knicks this season, averaging 1.9 points in seven appearances.

The 47th overall pick of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018, Mykhailiuk was signed by the Knicks as a depth piece after he was waived by the Toronto Raptors last season. The journeyman forward enjoyed his best year in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2020-21 season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 30 games, including nine starts.

The Raptors signed him on a two-year deal, but he was eventually waived after 56 games, averaging just 4.6 points on 38.9 percent field goal shooting in 12.8 minutes off the bench.
