Watch: Lakers owner Jeanie Buss tries her hand at stand-up comedy
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Lakers co-owner and CEO Jeanie Buss realized a lifelong dream on Thursday night by performing a set of stand-up comedy at the HaHa Comedy Club in North Hollywood.

Buss made her plunge into the world of stand-up during the club’s open-mic portion of the evening. The Lakers boss later posted video from part of her set to Instagram.

Not too shabby.

“I did it! Got up for the first time in my life at an open mic @hahacomedyclub to try standup comedy,” Buss wrote on Instagram. “I have been a fan of standup my entire life and this was an item on my bucket list. I have a long way to go but hey, it’s a huge leap for me.

“Thanks to @prettyfunnywomen Lisa Sundstedt for teaching comedy and empowering women to find their funny. Thanks to my classmates for support and sharing your insights. Don’t know if or when I will continue my standup but I do know I will never forget my first time.”

It sounds like Buss did not go into her first stand-up performance completely green as she expressed gratitude to her fellow classmates. Imagine having the Lakers owner in your comedy workshop class. That would be something.

Buss of course is riding high of late, as the Lakers secured the most sought-after free agent on the market over the summer by signing LeBron James. The manner in which she has spoke glowingly of the acquisition and credited the Lakers front office for the move speaks volumes about how Buss endorses the course being charted by the iconic franchise.

And now she’s given stand-up a shot. Best of all? Buss was not half-bad in her stand-up comedy baptism. Suffice to say, everything’s coming up Jeanie right now.
