Western Notes: Suns, Prop Bets, Ayton, Clippers

Deandre Ayton had 20 points and 10 rebounds in Game 1, going head-to-head with Nikola Jokic for much of his time on the court. Brandon Anderson of The Action Network envisions Ayton finding similar success in the scoring department during Game 2’s battle.

Ayton’s over/under for points sits at 15.5 (via PointsBet), which may not be enough of an adjustment from the 13.5 points oddsmakers had it at in Game 1.

The Suns have now played the Nuggets four times on the season and Ayton’s points total are as follows: 22, 27, 17, 20 (including Game 1). Past history suggests that the former No. 1 overall pick will surpass this total on Wednesday night.

The Clippers had a chance to steal Game 1 in Utah, but the Jazz were relentless in their comeback win. Los Angeles knows it can’t let off going forward, Bill Plaschke of the LA Times writes. “We’ve got to be ready to fight for a full forty-eight minutes the next game,” guard Luke Kennard said after the team’s 112-109 loss.
Paul George said he didn’t mind the taunting from the Utah crowd. “I like it,” PG said. “That part doesn’t get to me. It’s all respect. I’ve had good games here and I’ve had bad games here.” The crowd was heard chanting “overrated” as George was shooting late-game free throws.
Los Angeles heads into Game 2 in Utah as a 3-point underdog (PointsBet). The Clippers’ championship odds have dropped to +700, which is only behind the Nets (+105) and the Jazz (+300).
