The second half of the MLB season gets going on Thursday with one game, followed by a full slate set for Friday. There are plenty of storylines to keep an eye on, including an under-the-radar one: DJ LeMahieu's pursuit of history.
LeMahieu went to the Bronx this offseason on a modest two-year deal after spending the last seven seasons in Colorado. During his tenure as a Rockie, LeMahieu was a solid-but-unspectacular player, having made the NL All-Star team twice while also winning one batting title. But in the three months that he's been in Yankee pinstripes, he's been nothing short of a revelation. At the break, he had amassed 12 home runs, 63 RBI and 65 runs to go along with an AL-leading .336 batting average. He's been the best player on a team that has Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez and is even garnering some early MVP talk. And if he finishes the season as the AL leader in batting average, he will become the first player in modern baseball history to win a batting title in both the National and American Leagues.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. In honor of LeMahieu's possibly historic season, we want to see how many of the league leaders in batting average since the 1999 season you can name in six minutes.
Good luck!
