Aaron Rodgers Sends Perfectly Clear Mentorship Message

After a long wait fans are finally seeing Aaron Rodgers befitting the Black and Gold. He and the Pittsburgh Steelers came to terms last week, officially making him the team's next starting quarterback.

Months of rumors led to this point though the inevitable has ultimately happened. Rodgers ended his delay and joined the team this week, beginning the campaign of what may be his final season in the NFL.

Rodgers may serve as a bridge to the next Steelers franchise quarterback whether that player is on the roster or not. Regardless, he has not shied away from the responsibility as a mentor for rookie Will Howard.

The veteran made clear to reporters that he is open to working with Howard, already extending an effort to help the young play caller.

"Will is a good kid. We've gotten to talk a little bit," Rodgers said. "I thought he did really well today. You know, he seems pretty bright, not too big for him, going through the progressions really well.

"But yeah, I mean, I'm gonna be with him every single day, in every single meeting. Found my seat next to him today in the offensive meeting - whether or not that sticks - right next to Will Howard. So I'm going to help him out as much as I can."

Howard learned firsthand how quickly things can change in this league. He may have entered the league as an unheralded late-round prospect but was positioned to compete for the backup job just days ago.

Rodgers' arrival slides everyone down the totem pole. Now there's no debating the Steelers' decision here - Rodgers should not be forced into any sort of competition. But there can be tensions with a grizzled veteran joining a new environment on such unique terms.

Thus far, Rodgers is looking to pay it forward, making sure he gets his while not leaving Howard empty-handed
