Maxx Crosby is on the receiving end of some shade once again.
Last week, the Las Vegas Raiders lost to the Miami Dolphins 34-19 to extend their losing streak to six games. It was a game to forget for the Raiders defense and for Crosby, as the star edge rusher failed to notch a quarterback hit for the third time this season.
Crosby’s frustration was notable from the Dolphins’ first drive, as Dolphins offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg drew him into an unnecessary roughness penalty. As Eichenberg tugged on Crosby, he responded by throwing a forearm and giving the Dolphins an easy first down.
When asked about what prompted the exchange, Eichenberg seemed to enjoy getting under Crosby’s skin.
“I don’t know if he had a bad week or something was going on,” Eichenberg said per the Miami Herald. “He got aggravated pretty quick. You’ve got to hold your composure and focus on the game, not personal stuff.”
Crosby has garnered a reputation around the league for being one of the NFL’s premier chirpers, and it appears as though Eichenberg was the subject of his jabs against the Dolphins.
“For the most part, I was just trying to bother him as much as I could,” said Eichenberg. “I enjoy playing Maxx; he’s a great player, but he’s easy to aggravate.”
Unfortunately for Crosby and the Raiders, the collective frustration worked to their disadvantage. This also held true in the third quarter, when Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was able to draw Crosby offsides as time expired to pick up a free five yards. After the penalty was called, McDaniel was quick to let Crosby know about the ruse.

It is not the first time this season a rival has poked fun at Crosby. After the Raiders’ Week 1 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert put a picture of Crosby being blocked by Los Angeles offensive tackle Rashawn Slater on his Instagram story. While Crosby did collect a sack on Herbert during the game, most outlets instead emphasized his struggles against Chargers rookie offensive tackle and fifth-overall pick Joe Alt.
The season has been rough for Crosby and the Raiders, and opponents are relishing the opportunity to give one of the game’s best trash-talkers a taste of his own medicine.
