Alex Smith on first win in more than two years: 'It's amazing'

Alex Smith's remarkable comeback continued on Sunday, as he was able to lead the Washington Football Team to a win over the Cincinnati Bengals, his first victory in 742 days. Considering that many assumed his career was over when he suffered a gruesome injury in 2018, it's beyond impressive that he has been able to re-establish himself as a winning quarterback and Smith has made it clear he's savoring the experience.

"Another step, another thing I never thought I'd be doing again," Smith said, via ESPN. "It's one thing to come out and get that first playing time and a whole other deal to play winning football as a starter. It's amazing to get a win."

Smith suffered a broken fibula and tibia in November 2018. Many assumed his career was all but over (understandably, as he almost lost his leg), but two years later, Smith has been able to pull off one of the most impressive comebacks in NFL history.

And with Sunday's victory, he also kept Washington in the playoff mix, as the 3-7 Football Team is on the heels of the Philadelphia Eagles, who lead the division with a 3-6-1 record. If Smith is able to rack up a few more wins in the upcoming weeks and get Washington into the postseason, he may get to start in a playoff game. A playoff start would be the ultimate culmination of his hard work and dedication to get back into the NFL when most people had written him off.
