Amid outcries for Washington to change the team's name following the killing of George Floyd and subsequent protests over racial injustices, Amazon is pulling club merchandise from its website.
Per CNBC's Annie Palmer, Amazon sellers were given the following notice:
"With the announcement from the Washington team and the NFL, we are removing products with the team’s name and logo from our stores. Failure to properly close or delete all restricted product listings from your inventory may result in deactivation."
Sellers have 48 hours to remove any flagged Washington-related merchandise.
As noted by ESPN, Nike, Target, Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods have already scrubbed the team's gear and other items from their online stores.
In late June, National Congress of American Indians President Fawn Sharp called for Washington players to threaten sit out the season unless the franchise changes its name.
After FedEx, which owns naming rights to the team's home stadium, announced on July 2 that the company had requested a name change, team owner Dan Snyder responded by saying the franchise is reviewing the matter:

In the past, Snyder defiantly opposed replacing the Redskins name or the team's logo.
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump tweeted his support of the Washington and Cleveland names:
They name teams out of STRENGTH, not weakness, but now the Washington Redskins & Cleveland Indians, two fabled sports franchises, look like they are going to be changing their names in order to be politically correct. Indians, like Elizabeth Warren, must be very angry right now!
