Amon-Ra St. Brown was not able to see out the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving Day contest against the Green Bay Packers. The two-time All-Pro wide receiver was forced to exit in the first quarter of the highly anticipated rivalry showdown due to an ankle injury. St. Brown was not able to return as the Lions announced that he was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
With St. Brown sidelined, Detroit suffered a disappointing 31-24 home loss at Ford Field. They fell to 7-5, while the Packers improved to 8-3-1 after securing their third straight victory.
Senior NFL reporter Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network provided an update on St. Brown’s injury on Friday, and it appears to be good news for Detroit.
St. Brown is in the midst of another big year for the Lions. In 12 games played this season, the three-time Pro Bowler has already registered 75 catches for 884 yards and nine touchdowns. He has been integral to Detroit’s success thus far, and the team will need him at his best come playoff time.
St. Brown’s hot streak came to a screeching halt on Thursday, though. After the game, it was reported that the former USC Trojans star had sustained an ankle sprain and was expected to miss one to two games. Rapoport confirmed the news on Friday, along with a positive update on the Lions star.
“The MRI and other tests confirmed a low-ankle sprain with no structural damage and a quick return, sources say. Essentially, a 1-2 week injury like Dan Campbell said. Amon-Ra St. Brown will, of course, push to play, though...” Rapoport posted on X.

St. Brown’s timeline remains the same. He will likely miss Detroit’s Week 14 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, as well as Week 15 against the Los Angeles Rams. Both are big games for the Lions, and they will need to plan without one of their best players.
The silver lining, however, is that there is no structural damage on St. Brown’s ankle. He should be back sooner rather than later, and, at this point, is expected to be a full go for the NFL Playoffs.
The 7-5 Lions have five games left in the regular season. They are currently third in the NFC North and are ranked eighth in the conference.
