The remainder of the 2022 season for the Green Bay Packers could be about evaluation and figuring some things out for the future. With a 4-8 record, the playoffs are extremely unlikely, especially given all of the tiebreakers that they have lost as they are 1-3 against the NFC East and are currently 1-2 against NFC North foes.

The new injury to quarterback Aaron Rodgers could also keep him sidelined as he injured his ribs against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football in Week 12. That injury is on top of the broken thumb on his right hand that he has been dealing with since suffering in Week 5 against the New York Giants.

Rodgers was eventually forced out of the game against the Eagles because of his rib injury, which thrust Jordan Love into action. It was the third appearance of the season for Love, who played in garbage time in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings and Week 6 against the New York Jets.

Against the Eagles, he received a little more playing time as Love played the entire fourth quarter. He found some success against what has been a dominant defense the entire season, completing 6-of-9 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown to Christian Watson.

That performance, albeit a limited sample size, was good enough to finish fifth in PFF’s rankings for Week 12. It was an impressive showing as Love made all of the throws that were asked of him, looking as confident as he has at any point in his professional career.

These next few weeks are going to be very important for the Nevada product. He is in his third season in the NFL and his future is as up in the air as anyone’s on the roster.

There is a chance that he makes multiple starts given Rodgers’ health and their place in the standings. If he plays well and isn’t going to be given a shot with the Packers to be a starter next season, someone else could make a call to try and acquire him.
