Andrew Berry has done an excellent job this offseason of supplementing, maintaining, and re-signing the members of the Cleveland Browns’ extremely talented roster. This summer’s training camp is going to be the first official time that the entire roster gets to practice together in full pads. Needless to say, this is an extremely crucial period for the entire organization both on and off the field. I’m going to provide my 2022 Pre-Training Camp Depth Chart based on Cleveland’s OTA and Minicamp lineups, as well as things that I’m hearing around the organization.

Notes

  • With Deshaun Watson’s looming suspension and Baker Mayfield’s move to Carolina, Jacoby Brissett becomes the starting quarterback for the 2022 Cleveland Browns. Josh Dobbs has been underperforming throughout the offseason thus far, so it’s possible that they replace him before the season starts.
  • I foresee FB Johnny Stanton being cut/signed to the practice squad due to Harrison Bryant’s ability to play fullback when needed.
  • Cleveland may only choose to retain 9 offensive linemen this season as opposed to 10 due to Ethan Pocic’s ability to play both Guard and Center at a sufficient level.
  • Andrew Berry and Joe Woods have proved time and time again that they value defensive ends more than defensive tackles. I believe they keep/rotate 6 defensive ends, with rookies Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas being able to play inside as well in their “Cheetah/Ferrari” package.
  • Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome II are no doubt the starting CB’s in Cleveland’s base package. When they go with their “Nickel” defensive package, Newsome II will bump down inside to slot corner while Greedy Williams and/or Martin Emerson will handle boundary duties as the other outside cornerback.
