With Gardner Minshew making his move to the Raiders, the Indianapolis Colts found themselves in need of a backup quarterback.

In response to this gap, they swiftly pursued a seasoned veteran, someone with a track record of guiding teams to success, including a recent playoff stint with the Cleveland Browns: Joe Flacco.

It’s worth noting that Rob Maaddi reported interest from the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints as well.

This development shouldn’t come as a shock.

After being out of the league and on the brink of retirement, Flacco found himself back in the spotlight when the Browns came calling.

Despite the odds, he showcased his prowess on the field, rejuvenating his career and proving he still had much to offer.

While Flacco had hoped to continue with Cleveland this season, the Browns opted for Jameis Winston, potentially due to various factors such as fit or a desire to avoid distractions or pressure amid the Deshaun Watson situation.

Though Joe Flacco might not see much action on the field next season for the Colts, his role as a mentor to Anthony Richardson is poised to be invaluable.

Richardson, a product of Florida, faced setbacks in his rookie year due to injuries but demonstrated flashes of his immense potential.

With a powerful arm at his disposal, Richardson now has the opportunity to closely observe someone who shares his strengths—a quarterback unafraid to take risks and sling the ball downfield.

This mentorship could significantly bolster Richardson’s growth and development moving forward.
