49ers' Brandon Aiyuk wasn't happy with 'SportsCenter' decision
Brandon Aiyuk's stunning 51-yard reception following a deflection off Detroit Lions cornerback Kindle Vildor's facemask on Sunday was arguably the craziest play in an NFC Championship Game full of wild moments.
The San Francisco 49ers wideout's catch was one of many momentum-shifting plays during the home team's come-from-behind 34-31 victory, but it wasn't enough to garner the top spot on "SportsCenter's" top 10 on Monday morning.
Aiyuk shared a video on social media Monday of himself laying in bed, giving his disapproval of his reception "only" behind ranked second among Sunday's top plays.
"No. 2? Who the hell they have at one then? Let me see this s---," the 25-year-old said, before the top highlight was revealed.
Aiyuk's camera focuses on his TV, which begins to show the replay of another deflection play from championship Sunday.
As the start of a video of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson's 13-yard "pass to himself" against the Kansas City Chiefs begins to play, Aiyuk exclaims "Man, get the f..." before the video cuts off. Fans can likely assume what the next word was going to be.
Midway through the second quarter in the AFC Championship Game, Jackson faced a second-and-five at the Baltimore 18-yard line. The MVP candidate threw a pass that was batted up in the air, before he chased the ball down, caught it and turned it into a 13-yard gain.
Remarkably, this wasn't the first time when the Chiefs allowed a player to complete a pass of over 10 yards to themselves.
The 49ers deep threat's frustration by not nabbing the coveted No. 1 spot on "SportsCenter's" highlights segment will likely be temporary. Unlike Jackson and the Ravens, Aiyuk and his teammates won on Sunday and still have one more game to go when they play Kansas City in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11.
