49ers DE Nick Bosa leaves game vs. Panthers with groin injury

Two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Nick Bosa left the San Francisco 49ers' Week 5 matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday with a groin injury.

Bosa exited the game in the first half and was examined on the sidelines before being ruled out a short time later.

After playing just two games in 2020, Bosa didn't miss a game in 2021, playing all 17 regular-season contests.

Losing Bosa for an extended time would be a big-time hit to the 49ers' defense. Bosa entered the week leading the NFL in sacks (six), quarterback hits (16), quarterback pressures (30), and quarterback pressure rate (26%).

Nick's brother, Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa, suffered a groin injury of his own in Week4. Initial reports downplayed the severity, but it was later revealed that Bosa had suffered a torn groin, which will keep him out of action for eight-to-10 weeks.
