49ers 'going to make every effort' to retain Kyle Juszczyk

One of John Lynch's first moves as manager of the San Francisco 49ers was to sign fullback Kyle Juszczyk. Now his goal is to retain the five-time Pro Bowler.

Juszczyk is set to become a free agent when the new league year begins in March, and Lynch told ESPN's Nick Wagoner that signing him to a new contract is going to be a priority this offseason.

"He's a unique person and a unique football player because he does so many things for you," Lynch said. "He's important to us and we're going to make every effort to try to keep him here. I'm sure there'll be competition and we understand that, but Kyle's a real important player to this football team and we'll do everything we can to keep him here."

The 29-year-old has played a key role in the San Francisco offense. In 2020, he reeled in 19 receptions for 202 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 17 carries for 64 yards and two scores.

Juszczyk will likely draw plenty of interest this offseason. However, it's unclear which teams might pursue him.
