49ers HC Kyle Shanahan unsure of QB starter against Bears?

The 49ers have lost four straight games, and with Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm of Sunday's soggy 30-18 loss to the Indianapolis Colts discussions over whether rookie QB Trey Lance should take over have run rampant.

But with both quarterbacks dealing with health issues, head coach Kyle Shanahan doesn't have an immediate answer to who will get the start in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears.

"I have got a whole team to worry about," Shanahan said postgame, via ESPN. "I'm not just thinking about the quarterback situation right now. I'll evaluate everything, see where our team's at, see who gives us the best chance to beat Chicago, and see what our options are..."

Shanahan has an injury-riddled QB corps to contend with. Garoppolo appears to still be rebounding from a right calf strain he sustained in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks and Lance remains sidelined after spraining his left knee in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. 

After Sunday's loss, Garoppolo told the press his calf isn't 100-percent.

"Definitely felt it at times," he admitted. "But it sort of is what it is. All the guys out there, we're all playing with something right now. It's that point of the season."

As ESPN noted, Garoppolo's injured calf wasn't the only thing hindering San Francisco in Sunday's rain-soaked loss. The team's difficulty converting on third down when they had the ball was again evident and they committed multiple defensive pass interference penalties that helped Indianapolis advance down the field. 

The inclement weather didn't exactly help the Niners' case, either.
