San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week following an impressive Week 5 performance on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

Warner registered an impressive eight tackles, a tackle for a loss, a quarterback hit, a sack, an interception, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble in the 49ers' 42-10 victory. He became the first 49ers player with a sack, an interception, and a forced fumble in a single game since NaVorro Bowman during Week 17 of the 2013 season.

Warner has recorded 41 tackles, three tackles for a loss, two quarterback hits, and three passes defended this season to go along with Sunday's interception.

This is Warner's third NFC Defensive Player of the Week award. His previous honors came in Week 12 of the 2019 season and Week 16 of the 2020 season. The linebacker becomes the fourth 49ers player to win Defensive Player of the Week honors three or more times, joining defensive end Nick Bosa (4 times), defensive back Merton Hanks (5), and defensive lineman Bryant Young (3).
