Brock Purdy is a man of many talents. A skilled quarterback, a humble person, a role model for children, and turns out, a hero. The quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to discuss his offseason. During this, he revealed a rather interesting incident of him saving a journalist’s life from a coyote.

Brock Purdy was out in San Francisco filming an advertisement for the John Deere tractor company. In between shots, when the tractor was parked on the street, a coyote was stealthily approaching a woman and her dog on the street.

The 49ers QB noticed this just in time and shouted toward her, warning her of the imminent danger. Purdy narrated the incident in his own words.

Can't believe that was a real thing. But she walked by and sure enough she said she was a new anchor. I was like, ‘Dude, I just saved a news anchor’s life from getting eaten by a coyote.’ It’s real man, I can confirm it. --We're shooting this commercial on a hill on the outside of the city. I see this thing trotting by that has a big tail. I was like, 'That looks like a mini wolf.' No one else was gonna scream, so I screamed, 'Yo, there's a coyote!' That thing went running off. It could've been an ugly day on the shoot, but we saved her. Brock Purdy said

Sara Donchey expressed gratitude to Brock Purdy for saving her life

Thanks to Purdy’s presence of mind, the woman was quick to act in a way such that the coyote got scared and ran away after it saw that its cover was blown. Brock Purdy saved a life that day.

The woman he saved was none other than CBS News Bay Area anchor Sara Donchey, who could not thank him enough. Donchey recalled the day wherein she evaded serious injury owing to Purdy’s heroics.

I was walking my dog when this happened. I was watching from Bernal Heights Park when I suddenly heard Brock scream, 'Coyote!' I turned around and saw the biggest coyote I've ever seen sneaking up behind me and my dog...When I walked down the hill, one of the film crew guys said, 'Hey, Brock Purdy saved your life.' Sara Donchey had said back in February

The legend of Brock Purdy keeps on growing. The quarterback had a phenomenal 2023-24 season, leading the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. Despite coming up short in the big game, he put up 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He was the run-up to win the MVP award but in the process proved that he is deserving of being the franchise QB for the team.
