Former Arizona Cardinals QB Joshua Dobbs is joining a divisional rival.

According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, the San Francisco 49ers are signing Dobbs to a one-year deal.

The news is also being reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who added in a later tweet Dobbs is getting a fully-guaranteed $2.25 million one-year deal that includes another $750K in play-time incentives.

The Cardinals acquired Dobbs ahead of the 2023 regular season after cutting Colt McCoy and being unimpressed by rookie Clayton Tune.

Dobbs - who previously worked under Cardinals OC Drew Petzing - started eight games for the Cardinals and completed nearly 63% of his passes for 1,569 yards and eight touchdowns to five interceptions. He also scored three touchdowns on the ground for Arizona.

Dobbs was traded to the Minnesota Vikings at the trade deadline, where he started four more games after Kirk Cousins went down with a season-ending Achilles injury. There, he completed nearly 63% of passes for 895 yards and five touchdowns to five interceptions with another three touchdowns on the ground for the Vikings.

The recently turned 26-year-old now joins a 49ers quarterback room that has Brock Purdy firmly etched as their starter. Dobbs entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and will be on his seventh team since the start of 2022.

In total, he won three games as a starter in 12 attempts last season.
