49ers sign former Washington Pro Bowl TE Jordan Reed to one-year deal

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the San Francisco 49ers have signed former Washington tight end Jordan Reed to a one-year, "incentive-laden" contract.

The 30-year-old worked with San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan when Shanahan was an assistant with Washington.

Reed was named to the 2016 Pro Bowl squad, but he's had at least seven diagnosed concussions during his pro career, as noted by Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports Washington. He missed the entire 2019 campaign after he was sidelined due to a concussion he suffered during a preseason game versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Washington released Reed this past February. It was reported the club feared his career was in jeopardy due to his history of head injuries.
