Tyrion Davis-Price's time with the San Francisco 49ers is not yet at an end.

The 49ers signed the running back to their practice squad on Thursday, two days after releasing him to make room for veteran defensive back Logan Ryan on the roster.

A third-round pick in 2022, Davis-Price has made precious little impact during his brief time with the team to this point.

Despite making the active roster for his second season, Davis-Price has played in only one game in 2023, San Francisco's Week 5 blowout of the Dallas Cowboys.

As a rookie, Davis-Price played in six games and had just 99 yards rushing on 34 carries, his role restricted by injuries and the 49ers' midseason acquisition of Christian McCaffrey

To make room for Davis-Price on the practice squad, the 49ers released rookie receiver Isaiah Winstead.

Davis-Price joins Jeremy McNichols as the second back on the practice squad, and will keep number 32 and return to the same locker. Ryan had taken number 32 but has now decided to switch to 33 and take an auxiliary locker in an early show of his veteran leadership.

The former LSU star will likely still serve as the fourth-string back, with Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason backing up McCaffrey on the active roster.

Davis-Price could swiftly be elevated to the gameday roster for Sunday's clash with the Seattle Seahawks. Mitchell has missed two successive practices with a knee injury.
