The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

Taylor (5-8, 178) signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021 after his rookie contract with the 49ers had expired. He joined the Chicago Bears last season but saw limited action, being targeted only twice over 123 offensive snaps, per Pro Football Reference.

Additionally, Taylor played 71 snaps on special teams and has experience as a returner. The 49ers' primary return specialist last season, wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, signed a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency.

Taylor, 29, has accumulated 87 receptions for 834 yards and three touchdowns in 78 game appearances (three starts) throughout his NFL career. Notably, all three of his touchdowns occurred during his initial two seasons with the 49ers, and he missed the 2019 season due to a foot injury.
