The San Francisco 49ers are bolstering their quarterback room by adding a new player. According to his agent, Mike McCartney, the team is signing Josh Dobbs to a one-year deal.

McCartney announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the acquisition.

NFL Media's Mike Garafolo reported that the one-year deal includes $2.25 million in guarantees and $750,000 in play-time incentives.

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Dobbs (6-3, 220) out of Tennessee in the fourth round (No. 135 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Last season, he completed 262 of 417 attempts (62.8 percent) for 2,464 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 13 game appearances (12 starts) with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals, per Pro Football Reference. Additionally, Dobbs accumulated 421 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns on 77 carries.

Last season, the Vikings traded for Dobbs following Kirk Cousins' season-ending Achilles injury. Dobbs joins the 49ers' quarterback room, which already includes last year's MVP nominee, Brock Purdy, and veteran Brandon Allen. The departure of last year's QB2, Sam Darnold, to the Vikings left a spot for Dobbs to fill.

Dobbs, 29, has completed 62.2 percent of his passes for 2,920 yards with 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his four NFL seasons. He has also contributed 496 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns on 91 carries during his time with the Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Cardinals, and Vikings.
