One could last hours debating on just who is the greatest offensive lineman in NFL history.
The likes of Anthony Munoz and Jonathan Ogden each made a strong case to be lauded as the best offensive lineman to ever play the game. Munoz and Ogden both were named to the Pro Bowl a total of 11 times, and they are each a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Former Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan is not among those who believe that either of these two is the best offensive lineman of all-time but rather sees that San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams is deserving of such a praise.
Williams was recently asked about Lewan’s take on this matter, and he was left in awe.
"It means a lot," Williams said. "It’s one thing when your mom tells you that or your dad tells you that or your best friend, but getting it from peers and guys who know how difficult it is to play this position, know how difficult it is to maintain longevity in this league. It means a lot, it really means a lot.
"And hearing things like that, it’s one of things where you thank God every day for that. Delivered to be in this position and being able to make a mark on my peers."
As Munoz and Ogden each did during their respective careers, Williams has been named to the Pro Bowl an astounding 11 times. Williams has also made the AP First-Team All-Pro roster a total of three times.
A win for the 49ers over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58 sure would bolster Williams’ case to be called the greatest offensive lineman of all-time.
