Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams post cryptic hint about future with Packers

The Green Bay Packers aren't exactly in a great situation entering training camp this summer. Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers still is refusing to return to the team, and it was revealed Friday that star wide receiver Davante Adams is unlikely to sign a long-term extension.

While the duo's future in Green Bay remains uncertain, they both shared a cryptic message to Instagram Friday night, perhaps suggesting they'll play one final season together before leaving the Packers organization.

The photo shows Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in one of their last years together from the legendary documentary "The Last Dance." It could mean Rodgers and Adams are willing to run it back in 2021 with the Packers, or it could also mean the reigning MVP is heading into retirement. After all, it was revealed Friday that several sportsbooks are preparing for Rodgers to announce his retirement.

Rodgers and the Packers have been in a standoff throughout the offseason, with reports of the quarterback requesting a trade and threatening retirement if the team doesn't send him elsewhere.

Adams, meanwhile, has been openly supportive of Rodgers, indicating he would reconsider his own future in Green Bay if his teammate were to head elsewhere.

The 28-year-old's contract discussions with the Packers also ended because the club's proposals didn't involve him becoming the NFL's highest-paid wide receiver.

With Adams headed towards free agency after the 2021 campaign and Rodgers' future in limbo, it's unclear what the duo is thinking despite their joint social media posts.
