Former Green Bay Packers safety Adrian Amos (31) Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Rodgers offered Adrian Amos a brief hello after news broke the veteran safety was signing with the New York Jets. The Jets needed help in the secondary after veteran safety Chuck Cark appeared to sustain a severe injury that could end his 2023 season in OTAs.

Amos, a former Green Bay Packers team captain who had visited with the Baltimore Ravens Monday, signed a one-year deal worth $4 million. Amos was a free agent fans in Wisconsin hoped would rejoin the Packers for this season. However, he’s another veteran presence the team will lack as they reset their roster during the transition to Jordan Love as the starting quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers gives Adrian Amos a terse welcome to NY

The cause of the Packers’ transition this offseason, Rodgers, offered Amos a short message in an Instagram post welcoming the defender to the Jets organization:

“Welcome Smash ,” Rodgers wrote.

Rodgers has seen several of his former Packers teammates join him in New York this offseason. Most of them, Billy Turner, Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Tim Boyle, are on his side of the ball. But Rodgers will have to treat Amos a little differently with the Jets. Rodgers will keep him in the dark about the offense’s hand signals and won’t try to look his way to throw the ball.

Amos will have a little time to get familiar with the Jets’ playbook before seeing Rodgers and his teammates on the field. Jets head coach Robert Saleh canceled mandatory minicamp as the team will start their training camp a week earlier due to their preseason appearance in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.
