Aaron Rodgers was not supposed to return this season. After suffering a potentially career-threatening torn Achilles during his New York Jets debut, questions were raised regarding the former MVP’s future in the sport.

Well, not only has Rodgers made it clear that he isn’t ready to call it a career just yet but to take it a notch higher, the 39-year-old is now set to return to action much sooner than recently anticipated.

On Sunday, the Jets quarterback dropped a massive bombshell on his imminent return from injury.

Speaking to Melissa Stark of the NFL Network, Rodgers revealed on Sunday that his intention is to come back by mid-December:

“I know it sounds insane, but if you do a good surgery, have a good patient, it makes this possible,” he said (h/t Ari Meirov on X).

Rodgers’ return to the field has been gaining momentum ever since he declared that he had every intention of returning this season. Not only did he erase any and all doubt about this torn Achilles potentially being a career-ending injury but now, the four-time All-Pro QB has shattered the supposed recovery timetable for such a severe injury.

Rodgers went down in Week 1, which was in early September. If he is able to return by mid-December as promised, this means that he took just a little over three months to fully recover from this devastating injury. That’s simply unheard of.

Then again, this is Aaron Rodgers we’re talking about here. If there was anyone who was going to change the norm on these types of Achilles injuries, you just knew that it had to be him.
