Aaron Rodgers: Green Bay's new rookie receivers 'look the part'

The Green Bay Packers are currently proceeding without franchise legend Davante Adams and down-the-field threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The team addressed the position this offseason by signing free-agent receiver Sammy Watkins and adding three new rookies in April's draft. North Dakota State's Christian Watson (second round), Nevada's Romeo Doubs (fourth round) and Nebraska's Samori Toure (seventh round). A lot of fans are a little nervous about 2022 with question marks surrounding the receiver room. While the fans are nervous, the players and the team are not.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" Wednesday and was asked about his new rookie receivers.

"Physically, they definitely look the part, all three of them. All three of the guys we drafted have physical gifts. Obviously the top two picks are bigger, Doubs and Watson, but the seventh-round pick's got a lot of stuff to him. So I think it's going to be great," Rodgers said.

He added, "every year there's opinions that start coming out about players in helmets and shorts, and I would say let's everybody just take a nice deep long breath...trust the coaching staff, trust the relationships that will continue to be formed..."

Rodgers and the Packers have a history of making it work with non-first round picks. Jordy Nelson (second round), Randall Cobb (second round), Greg Jennings (second round), James Jones (third round) and Donald Driver (seventh round) were all picked beyond the first round. It is safe to say that the Packers did a pretty good job molding those players. Believe Rodgers when he says to trust the coaching staff. It almost always works out. It looks like a very real possibility that Watson, Doubs and Toure will flourish in Green Bay.
