Aaron Rodgers 'in a really good place' with Packers GM Brian Gutekunst?

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had plenty to say during Tuesday's appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," including that he could reveal his intentions for the 2022 NFL season before the new league year opens in March and that he believes some fans rooted against the Packers during Saturday's playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers because he's openly not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Rodgers famously remained away from the Packers during last year's offseason activities amid reports and rumors he wanted to be traded due to his unhappiness with general manager Brian Gutekunst. However, the 38-year-old then claimed before the playoffs he and Gutekunst "sat it down and got on the same page," and the signal-caller seemed to offer a similar take to McAfee on Tuesday.

"I feel like I'm at the place relationally with the Packers -- in a really good place, especially with Brian and the way our friendship and trust has grown -- where it would be a simple conversation and whatever comes out of the conversation is moving forward," Rodgers explained, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "There's not going to be a weird standoff, war of silence or anything. Brian and I have had good conversations throughout the year, and when it comes time to make a decision, we'll have a conversation and that'll be that. It won't be a long, drawn-out process."

Rodgers said any final decision will be based on "a lot of intuition and a lot of feel" this winter.

"You have to imagine yourself in those situations because I don't want to be sitting there during the season going, 'Man, I probably should've hung it up.' Or, sitting there and not with the organization -- an organization -- and going, 'God, I should be playing right now,'" Rodgers added. He also said he understands his call will "impact a number of other people's decisions" and that he intends to announce his plans "sooner rather than later."

Since late Sunday afternoon, Rodgers has repeatedly been linked with a potential move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as Tom Brady isn't yet publicly committed to playing another season with that club. One wonders if Rodgers is waiting for Brady to possibly make an announcement after the upcoming Super Bowl just in case last year's champions eventually have an opening at the sport's most important position.
