Aaron Rodgers not practicing, Kurt Benkert taking reps at QB for Packers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confidently told "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday that the fractured pinky toe he played through in three November games would not keep him sidelined for any future contests. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player did, however, suggest he could skip practice sessions as he did ahead of the win over the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 28.

That seems to be the plan as the 9-3 Packers prepare to host the 4-8 Chicago Bears for the upcoming "Sunday Night Football" clash.

Rodgers did not participate in Wednesday's practice and is considered day-to-day, per head coach Matt LaFleur.

"We’ll just play day by day and see where he’s at," LaFleur explained, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "If he can [practice], that’d be great. If he can’t, he can’t. I don’t think it’s going to be anything hindering him for the game."

Green Bay backup signal-caller Jordan Love is on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he reportedly tested positive for the virus Monday, leaving third-string option Kurt Benkert as the team's only active player at the position on Wednesday.

Rodgers completed 28-of-45 passes for 307 yards with two touchdowns and an additional rushing score in the win over the Rams without practicing beforehand, and there's currently no indication the 38-year-old will miss Sunday's prime-time game.
