Aaron Rodgers: People rooted against Packers because I'm not vaccinated against COVID-19

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed what became the Week 9 loss at the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 7 after he tested positive for COVID-19 as an unvaccinated player. He had previously claimed he was "immunized," something he later said he took "full responsibility for" after some considered his words "misleading."

During his weekly "The Pat McAfee Show" appearance on Tuesday, Rodgers said that a portion of football fans who watched the San Francisco 49ers eliminate the Packers from the playoffs on Saturday night did so with glee only because of his unwillingness to receive one of the safe and available vaccines.

"There were a ton of people tuning in rooting against us for one reason and one reason only: It's because of my vaccination status and them wanting to see us lose so they could pile on and enjoy and revel in the fact that my vaccination status was some sort of reason why we haven't had success in the playoffs," Rodgers explained, according to Rebecca Cohen of Insider.

Rodgers and company failed to hold serve at Lambeau Field and fell to the Niners 13-10 in what could prove to be his final game as a member of the Packers. He also hinted on Tuesday he could inform the Packers of his plans and wishes for at least the 2022 season at some point next month and before free agency starts when the new NFL year opens in March.

Rodgers spent much of last summer away from the Packers amid reports he was unhappy with general manager Brian Gutekunst and no longer wanted to play for the organization.
