Aaron Rodgers has a high standard for himself and his teammates. Unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers, as a team, fell short of their winning standard for much of the season. While there were a variety of reasons for this, Rodgers’ own play in the fourth quarter of one-score games did the Packers no favors.
ESPN’s Rob Demovsky tweeted out some stats that paint a picture of how frustrating late-game drives have been for the Packers.
The Packers played in nine one-score games this season. In those games, they went 4-5. One would have to imagine that even a small improvement in the fourth quarter would have given the Packers at least one or two more wins. Those wins, by the way, would have gotten them into the playoffs this year.
Now the Packers set off on an offseason journey filled with more questions than answers. Will Rodgers return to the Packers in 2023? When asked for his jersey after the game, he said, “Nah, I’m going to hold onto this one?” An indicator that this might have been the end?
To be fair, the only one who knows the answer to that question is Rodgers, and even he may not know the answer yet.
