“Jeopardy!” superfan and one-time contestant Aaron Rodgers revealed this week that he will serve as guest host on the iconic game show.

Making his weekly appearance Tuesday on the “Pat McAfee Show,” the Green Bay Packers quarterback shared how “Jeopardy!” reached out to him about a guest-host spot.

“One of my idols growing up was Alex Trebek,” Rodgers said. “They’re doing some guest hosting spots, and it’s going to be released here pretty soon, but I had the opportunity to do one of those.”

Rodgers added that his guest-host spot is scheduled to be aired “pretty soon.”

“Jeopardy” will roll through a slate of guest hosts with the airing last week of the late Alex Trebek’s final batch of episodes. “Jeopardy! All-Time Champion” Ken Jennings contestant took on the formidable task of filling the beloved host’s shoes in an episode that aired Monday.

Trebek passed away at the age of 80 on Nov. 8, 2020, following a very public, painful and inspiring battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

As mentioned, Rodgers appeared on an edition of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” years ago. He joined “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary and former astronaut and current Senator-Elect for Arizona Mark Kelly on a 2015 episode of the long-running show.

The two-time NFL MVP dominated in his “Jeopardy!” victory and in doing so raised $50,000 for Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC Fund). Rodgers went on to say he “had a blast” fulfilling one of his lifelong dreams of appearing on the quiz show.

Given his affinity for “Jeopardy” and admiration for Trebek, Rodgers was among the countless fans of the show who mourned the iconic game show host’s passing last year.
