The Minnesota Vikings have a new quarterback, and their wide receivers are hard at work getting on the same page with him as quickly as possible.

Vikings receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs went to Atlanta in April to work out with Kirk Cousins, newly-signed as the Vikings’ quarterback. Thielen said it was great for the pair to get to work and learn about Cousins’ tendencies.

“It was awesome. I think the biggest part of that was to get to know him on a personal level and just try to get that first initiation of how he likes guys to run routes and what he feels comfortable doing, and then just try to get on the same page,” Thielen said, via Sid Hartman of the Star Tribune. “I think it was a really good start for Diggs and I to get a jumpstart on that.”

Thielen came away with a good impression of his new quarterback.

“For sure, he’s a pretty easy guy to be around and that makes it easy on us receivers,” Thielen said. “I think he gets along with everybody and it’s nice to have that, especially in that room when you need to have that room as a leader.”

Cousins got a big guaranteed payday when he signed with the Vikings, so this really needs to work out from the team’s standpoint. It’s encouraging that he’s already hard at work with his top two receivers.
