AFC, NFC championship games on track to set records for ticket prices

If Detroit Lions fans were upset over the price hike for season tickets next season, they just might lose their minds once they see how much it will cost them to watch their hometown team in-person during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

As of Wednesday morning, the average ticket price for the game was $1,916.82, according to Ticket IQ, which would make it the second-most expensive conference championship game in NFL history right behind Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, which is averaging $2,597.29 per ticket, according to the outlet.

To be clear, the price listed is for tickets yet to be sold and not the average price for ones already sold, which is considerably lower.

The current record for most expensive conference title game was last year’s NFC Championship Game between the 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, which averaged $1,822 per ticket.

Ticket IQ lists the cheapest ticket for Ravens-Chiefs at $755 and the cheapest price for 49ers-Lions at $573 – significantly higher than it cost to get into the divisional-round games last weekend.

Both prices are slightly higher than on other secondary marketplaces like Ticket Master and Stub Hub, where tickets going for approximately $430 to $500 (NFC Championship Game) and $620 to $675 (AFC Championship Game). Both sites are requiring consumers to purchase a minimum of two tickets for each game.

Vivid Seats’ “Fan Forecast” projects around an 80/20 split (49ers fans-to-Lions fans) at Levi’s Stadium for Sunday’s matchup. It would present a 17% increase from last week’s divisional-round matchup against the Green Bay Packers, whose fans filled out just 3% of the stadium.
