New Broncos QB Bo Nix said he is ready to come to Denver and compete for the starting job, adding that he has received no assurances from the organization that he will be the opening-day starter.
“I know everybody has to compete,” Nix said, via the team website. “I know everyone has to go to work. We haven’t had any conversations thus far, just draft prep and obviously the recent draft pick [call]. Other than that, I just can’t wait to get around the locker room, can’t wait to get around the guys, meeting my new teammates, meeting new coaches and get to work.”
“I think when you look at their offense, when you look at the scheme, [there are] a lot of really fun concepts that I’ve run in the past, a lot of fun things that I’ve been able to do and have success in,” Nix added. “We were able to just talk over those and communicate those. I believe just talking football is one of the best things you can do in the process, and that’s what we did a lot of.”
Chargers
The Chargers grabbed OT Joe Alt at pick No. 5 overall instead of a playmaker to replace WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Los Angeles GM Joe Hortiz commented on the state of the receiver room.
“I think I’ve said it from the beginning, when we started talking about the draft, that we’re going to take the best player available for the Chargers, and that’s what we did today,” Hortiz said, via Alex Insdorf of the Chargers Wire. “That’s what we’re going to do at 37 [overall] and every other pick that we have. Obviously, he helps our team and he helps us get better. That’s what we want to do. We want to get better with every pick. That’s what we feel like we did.”
“We’re going to address more than just the receivers, too, absolutely. I’ve said this before — you look at it and there are certainly more needs at different spots, but there are needs at every position. That’s why we’re living by the best player philosophy. Again, you’re never one player away and you’re never one position away. You have to improve every single position on your team at every opportunity you get. We’re going to still be working on a few of the positions. We’re not done with offensive line, either. We’re just going to try and make the team better.”

Raiders
When asked why the Raiders didn’t trade up for a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, GM Tom Telesco responded they looked into it but didn’t find an opportunity to make a move.
“We looked into it like I said in the pre-draft press conference,” Telesco said, via ProFootballTalk. “We kind of had a plan to … maybe move up if the opportunity was there. It wasn’t there, kept moving.”
Telesco wasn’t surprised to see six quarterbacks drafted in the top 12 picks.
“Well, no — I mean when you when you look at it with the teams and where their needs were, not totally surprised,” Telesco said.
