Aidan O'Connell has proven to be a valuable quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders.

O'Connell will have competition this offseason whether or not he will be the starting quarterback moving forward. The question of competition with either a rookie or veteran quarterback is yet to be answered.

The latest Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast with our own Hondo Carpenter Sr. was joined by Matt Hladik, editor and publisher at thespun.com. Most of the episode evaluated the quarterback position in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Along with evaluating this year's quarterback draft class, Hladik discussed his thoughts on O'Connell and the potential future he has as a quarterback in the NFL.

"I think there's a possibility he could be a functional starter and a guy that could start for you in the NFL."

"I think there's a path in the future where he begins the year in 2024. He begins the season as the Raiders starter again. I don't think he's a guy who's going to start on an AFC Champion or Super Bowl team, but I think that he can be a guy who has the quality enough starter in the NFL depending on how he continues to develop."

O'Connell threw nine touchdown passes and one interception in the last five games of the 2023-24 NFL regular season and led the Raiders to a 5-4 record.

In his rookie season with the Silver and Black, O'Connell ended the season with a passer rating of 83.9, throwing for 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 12 games since taking over as the starter.

How the Raiders evaluate and approach the starting quarterback position this NFL offseason will be fascinating to watch.
