A.J. Brown seemingly reacts to Ja Morant situation on social media
A.J. Brown knows what it takes to be a superstar player in Tennessee, and he obviously doesn’t think Ja Morant has it.
For the second time in three months, the Memphis Grizzlies have suspended Morant after a video surfaced on Saturday night showing the Grizzlies guard riding in a car with a gun. It’s another misstep for the young guard, prompting Brown to offer his thoughts on the matter.
Here Brown seems to imply that Morant needs to surround himself with better people. As one of the NBA ‘s most talented players, Morant needs to be more cognizant of his surroundings and the motives of those around him.
Is music really to blame? That’s the implication here. Let’s face it, guns and violence are common themes in today's music. Brown doesn’t seem to be a fan of any of it.
He may have a point, but he could be all wrong. Over the years there have been countless studies on the effects of violent imagery in rap music, but for every article that correlates rap music with gun violence, you’ll find another that says the opposite.
Brown is most inclusive in his last tweet. He implies that music, movies, T.V. and one’s peer group can have a profound effect on one’s behavior. He’s not wrong, but pinning all of Morant’s mistakes on popular culture is a bit of a stretch.
This isn’t the first time Brown has expressed opinions of a fellow athlete on social media. When JuJu Smith-Schuster mocked the Eagles for losing Super Bowl LVII, Brown credited Patrick Mahomes with saving his career and dubbed Smith-Schuster "Tik-Tok boy."
Eagles fans can only hope Brown has his house in order. Philadelphia’s No.1 receiver has no problem criticizing others. One false move and he’ll find himself on the receiving end of social media.
