On day three of the Browns’ training camp, the Browns did 7-on-7 periods for the first time. There were a few good plays made, but the one that stood out the most was the AJ Green interception off of Jacoby Brissett.

Green was covering the fullback Johnny Stanton, and he got the only interception of training camp so far.

The Browns really do need some good plays on the defensive side of the ball this year. They really didn’t do a very good job of that last year, and defensive coordinator Joe Woods knows that they need more players to step up.

One of the biggest problems the Browns have always had is getting turnovers. Joe Woods says that it’s one of the reasons the Browns have had trouble closing out games.

“We have not done as good of a job the previous two years. We greatly have to improve that because that is one of the major categories that you have to note, if not the most important category, when it comes to winning games.”

AJ Green has been in the league for two years, and he just hasn’t had that opportunity to shine yet.  In his rookie year, he only played two games. But last year, he got some more playing time. He played in 12 games, and in those 12 games he had 21 tackles, one interception, six passes defended, and two fumble recoveries.

However, it will be difficult for him to get an opportunity. Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome II have most likely locked up the top two cornerback spots, and the rookie Martin Emerson Jr. will probably be getting a good amount of playing time as well.

No matter what happens for AJ Green, he is impressing many. Hopefully, the Browns can get some playing time for him when the start of the season comes around.
