Trick or Treat? The Bears get a gigantic treat against the San Francisco 49ers this Halloween. Akiem Hicks and Tashaun Gipson are active and ready to play! This is extremely welcome news considering Khalil Mack is out and Robert Quinn is making his return from the COVID-19 list as well.

This season the Bears’ defense has ranked at or near the top in sacks. When Quinn and Mack are together they have been a force to be reckoned with. Akiem Hicks provides that monster in the middle to eat up the opposing run-game and create inside pressure. The Bears need his presence even if he’s not making the stat sheets.

Tashaun Gipson

The Chicago Bears’ secondary hasn’t reached it’s full potential in 2021 which isn’t surprising after the departure of Kyle Fuller. Gipson’s return to play against the 49ers should give them a bit of a shake up. If Tashaun Gipson can return to his 2014, pro-bowl-caliber style of play then this defense can really wreak havoc. He had six interceptions for the Cleveland Browns in 2014. In 20 games over a two-year span with the Bears, he’s only had two interceptions.

The Bears’ defense gets a very spooky Halloween surprise with Akiem Hicks and Tashaun Gipson returning to the team. They have a chance to get back to .500 with a win against the San Francisco 49ers.
