Less than a month after Super Bowl LVIII, the Kansas City Chiefs have been back to work preparing for a title defense. With the offseason rolling on, the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is a perfect time for teams to meet with prospects, players' agents and more.

This time of year is also known for being heavy on rumors and reports. Earlier this week, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network broke news that head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach were "expected to begin" talks on contract extensions soon. New deals would keep one of the NFL's best head coach-GM duos in town for years to come, which is undoubtedly good for Kansas City.

Another member of the NFL Network crew, James Palmer, caught up with Reid at the Combine. When asked about a potentially imminent extension, Reid had nothing but good things to say about the Chiefs.

"Yeah, that'll all take place here quickly, I'm sure," Reid said. "There's no better person to work for than Clark Hunt. I felt that way with Jeff Lurie, I feel that way with Clark Hunt, and I've been fortunate. Green Bay Packers, they don't have an owner, but I was fortunate to be there. I'm not getting any younger, so I appreciate Kansas City. We love it there. I love the organization. I get to work with three great guys or two great guys — I work with more than that — but I've got Clark Hunt, Mark Donovan and Brett Veach, which is the three. I already mentioned Clark, so that was the two. But those guys, I work with them every day. Clark gives us the opportunity, all three of us, to do things to help us win. That's all you can look for."

As things currently stand, Reid and Veach are both under contract through the end of the 2025 campaign. Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports that under extensions, that could lock them in through "at least" 2028. Despite pre-Super Bowl speculation about whether Reid would retire, the contrary appears to be the case. Not only is he returning for 2024, but he seems likely to finish out the original timeline of his current deal and go beyond that.

Since Reid took over in 2013, the Chiefs have experienced one of the greatest franchise turnarounds in the NFL. They have 179 regular-season wins and another 16 victories in the playoffs. Quarterback Alex Smith had success from 2013-2017 and Patrick Mahomes took the league by storm after that. The same man remained in charge through it all, now boasting one of the more impressive resumes for a head coach in league history.

As he has countless times in the past, Reid made it known how much he enjoys being employed by the Chiefs. With that set to be the case for the present and future, there will be continued stability for a modern dynasty as it attempts to reach the heights very few organizations have. The opportunities for achievement will present themselves, especially with Reid still excited to help lead the way.
