Anthony Richardson is one of the most interesting prospects in the NFL draft. After showing out at the NFL Combine, there has been a lot of buzz about him being one of the top quarterbacks drafted. Projections are all over the place. Some have him as the clear number one while others rank him a little lower. Richardson passed an important bar in the pre-draft process when he “excelled” at the S2 cognitive test.

Anthony Richardson Passes Cognitive Test

The S2 cognition test helps gauge a person’s cognitive skills, scoring them on things like instinctive learning, decision complexity, distraction control, and improvisation. The quarterback position requires a lot of brainpower. Diagnosing coverages, blitzes, and many other things is key to a quarterback’s success. While he did not receive the highest score of any quarterback (that went to Bryce Young) he did very well. One source described the performance as “knocking it out of the park”.

Where Will He Be Drafted?

It seems unlikely that Richardson will get out of the top five. Even if the teams currently in the spots do not take him, some team will likely trade up in order to nab him. He is too tantalizing of a prospect, especially considering his recent cognitive test performance, to pass up. The Titans, Raiders, and Falcons are prime candidates for a trade up and it would likely be for a player like Richardson.

Anthony Richardson is one of the most interesting players in the NFL draft. Overall this draft is full of interesting storylines. We are a week away from the NFL draft and we still have so many questions. While this might be frustrating for some, it also makes the week leading up and the actual event way more fun to watch.
